So what is this Barrington Collective?
The Barrington Collective has a mission statement, but that may seem quite vague.
In the past, the Barrington Collective has held DoItYourselfFestivals, FreeSkools, local classes, and concerts. We have also published the Cal DisorientationZine. We want to make the Bay Area fun, interesting, and well lubricated.
- The Barrington Collective tries to network (local) collectives and cooperatives together, allowing them to draw talent and resources from each other. Even among cooperative-types, we are too alienated from each other.
- We have no set membership, no forms, no signing on the dotted line. People come and go, contribute as little or as much as they desire. (You could already be a member and not even know it!)
- The Barrington Collective is a running experiment, to explore the limits loose affiliation and non-hierarchical organization. Haven't you always wanted to be part of some mad experiment?
- In general, the Barrington Collective does fun things that interest its members, keeping in mind the goal of making connections between collectives and cooperatives through the Bay Area and beyond.
