Different ways to get special characters:
Copy and Paste
You can copy and paste special characters from below. Note: Some browsers may not correctly render these characters ever, even if they are put in exactly right. Especially Mac Internet Explorer. Of any version. It sucks. Use Safari. Or Mozilla.

- ¡ ¢ £ ¤ ¥ ¦ § ¨ © ª « ¬ ® ¯
- ° ± ² ³ ´ µ ¶ · ¸ ¹ º » ¼ ½ ¾ ¿ À Á Â Ã Ä Å Æ Ç È É Ê Ë Ì Í Î Ï Ð Ñ Ò Ó Ô Õ Ö × Ø Ù Ú Û Ü Ý Þ ß à á â ã ä å æ ç è é ê ë ì í î ï ð ñ ò ó ô õ ö ÷ ø ù ú û ü ý þ ÿ

Or, if you prefer to have a more convenient interface:
Win 95/98/ME/2000
Go to the Stat Menu -> Programs -> Accessories -> Character Map.
- Insert at will.
You can also use Alt Key Codes or this other way.
Mac OS X
To turn on the "Character Palette" that lets you pick out all the funky umlauted and tilded whatnots:
- Open "System Preferences".
- Select "International".
- Click on the "Input Menu" tab.
- Check the box in the language list labeled "Character Palette".
- To the right of the regular menus (i.e. File, Edit, Go, etc), there is now a "character palette" icon that opens the palette. It lets you insert special characters with ease.
